PSConfig is a graphical tool that makes it easy to work with
the XML configuration files that can be used with
other PerfSuite
tools and libraries.
PSConfig
can be used on both UNIX (X-Window based) and Windows systems.
On UNIX platforms, the command to invoke PSConfig is
psconfig.
PSConfig is installed on NCSA Linux clusters in the directory:
/usr/apps/tools/perfsuite/bin
The current version of PSConfig supports creation, modification, and
examination of configuration files that are used by
the command-line tool psrun
and software created using the library libpshwpc.
The following screen shot shows examples of two of the
windows provided by PSConfig, displaying information about
hardware performance events on a particular machine that
are available for measurement as well as general information about
the machine itself. Also shown are two "tear-off"
menus that can be placed directly on your desktop while
you are working in the PSConfig main windows.
Example PSConfig display, showing a hardware
performance event selection list in the left window and machine
information to the right.
More detailed information about
one of the available performance events has been requested by the user and
is displayed in the text box at the bottom of the main window.
